Our pledge to the planet is a simple one. We want to do everything within our power to be better and do better. We're working closely with our partners, our suppliers, our employees, and YOU - our customer - to help reduce our environmental footprint as much as we possibly can. With your help, we hope to create a BETTER SPACE for everyone by reducing, recycling, and reusing.

Space NK Beauty

In October 2021, we launched our very own hand & body range with two luxurious options, Rewild and Voyage. It was important to us that the range was as sustainable as possible.
From a packaging perspective, all the bottles are made using 40% post-consumer recycled plastic and are 100% recyclable. Because the pumps were harder to recycle, we decided to make removable pumps that can be re-used when purchasing a refill bottle. All bottles are available to re-purchase online in refill packaging, without the pump.
We've also made it possible to refill any used or empty bottles at one of our refill stations in selected stores.* By 2022 we will have refill stations in 32 stores. We will also introduce refillable pouches.
* Refill stations are currently available in Regents Street, Kings Cross, St. Johns Wood, Northcote Road, Parsons Green and Bath.

Partnering With Handle To Repurpose Packaging

On 13th January 2022, we partnered with Handle, the recycling company for the beauty industry, to turn empty packaging into something new.
Handle is the world's first circular beauty brand to collect used beauty packaging and recycle the material so it can be repurposed for the manufacturing of more beauty packaging or turned into Handle's range of premium beauty accessories.
To help create a Better Space for everyone, we're asking our beauty community to fill purpose-made bags with their empties so we can recycle them properly and give the materials a new lease of life.
It's easy! Simply fill the bag with empty beauty products before sealing and dropping into a collection point at any of our 74 Space NK stores across the UK.
Handle then sorts the packaging into the correct waste streams, where the material is repurposed for the manufacturing of more beauty packaging or turned into Handle's collection of beauty products, handmade from 100% recyclable plastic.
Come into one of our stores to pick up a Handle collection bag and help us create a Better Space.

HOW IT WORKS

STEP 1
Come into one of our stores to pick up a Handle collection bag.

STEP 2
Fill the bag with your empty beauty products.

STEP 3
Once full, drop off the bag in the Handle collection point at your local Space NK store (and don't forget to pick up a new bag on your way out).

WHO IS HANDLE?
Handle is a circular economy company that intercepts and stops used and empty beauty packaging from going to landfill. The material is repurposed so it can be re-used in the manufacturing of more beauty packaging or turned into Handle's collection of sustainable beauty products.

WHAT CAN I RECYCLE?
Handle accepts all types of plastic bottles, tubes, pots, lids and pumps, fragrance bottles, makeup compacts, aluminium packaging and tubes, glass pots and bottles, razors (handles only), toothbrushes, eyelash curlers, makeup brushes, hair brushes and sample sachets. They do not currently collect electricals, face wipes, sheet masks or aerosols.

WHERE WILL MY BEAUTY PRODUCTS END UP?
Once collected, the packaging is sorted into the correct waste stream, each material is recycled so it can be re-used by manufacturers of beauty packaging or is turned into Handle beauty accessories.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING WITH MY EMPTIES BEFORE I RETURN THEM?
Simply empty out your used packaging and rinse as best as possible before sealing in the purpose-made bag and popping into a collection point at any of our 74 Space NK stores across the UK.
